SustainAbility Project
Across the community, Victorians are being asked to live more sustainably. Households are being asked to save water and energy, and to reduce, reuse and recycle.
But this information is not accessible for people with disability in group homes. How can we support our residents to live sustainably?
Our SustainAbility Project is funded through the Victorian government's Sustainability Fund. We are working with people we support and staff to save water, energy and waste in our group homes.
As a result of the Green House pilot program we have developed a SustainAbility Star-ter Kit for people with disability and disability service providers. This is freely available.
Our HomeChoices houses have all signed up for SustainAbility Stars, our 6-star accreditation program.
On Sunday 10th October, Global Day of Action on Climate Change, we are holding a Sustainablilty Open Day at a residential home in Sunshine. Our aim is to show the community that the people we support are making a difference for the environment.
