Launch of Founding Futures
Thu, Sep 2 2010

Over 70 people attended the launch to learn about the EW Tipping Foundation’s exciting new projects to create a better future for people with acquired brain injury (ABI).

Through our Founding Futures campaign, we are raising $2.5M to undertake two major projects: a new rehabilitation centre in Altona using the best-practice neuro-behavioural approach developed by the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust in the UK; and four new purpose-built homes to keep young people out of nursing homes as part of the government’s my future my choice program.

The message was: ABI affects 1 in 45 people in Australia. It can happen to anyone, at any time, and the effect is devastating.

This was reinforced by a powerful audio-visual presentation screened at the launch, in which Rebecca, who suffered an ABI when hit by a car at the age of 18, and her mother Donna, share their story.

Chair of the Foundation, Frank Cullen, said that Founding Futures is a fitting way to mark the Foundation’s 40th anniversary.

“It combines our tradition of leadership, community partnership and innovation to create a long-lasting legacy for the Victorian community.

The Board of EW Tipping Foundation commends the Founding Futures initiative to the community and welcomes your support. The more that we, as board members, have learnt about the prevalence and impact of Acquired Brain Injury in our community, the more excited we are about the potential of these new projects to make a difference in people’s lives.”
