Kim pursues her passion for pets
Wed, Sep 24 2008
Local resident Kim Smith is looking for a volunteer role in the Reservoir community where she can help look after animals.
Kim, who is supported by the EW Tipping Foundation, recently completed a “First Aid for Pets” course with TAFE.
Kim loves animals, especially dogs, and came across the course when she was looking for community activities.
“I thought it would be a good idea to learn what is involved when you own a pet,” she said.
Her EW Tipping staff have supported Kim, who has a disability, to become more involved in her local community and to learn more about animals.
“Kim is always keen to volunteer when we have been asked to mind dogs for friends,” said her staff member Julie Dennert.
“She always loves activities that involve seeing or interacting with animals – such as visiting the Werribee Open Range Zoo or attending the pet expo at Caulfield.”
Because Kim shares her accommodation with others, a pet at home would be difficult, but she is keen to find some volunteer work with animals in the local area, perhaps at a vet or pet shop.
Anyone who can assist is asked to phone Joanne at the EW Tipping Foundation on 9564 1000.
