Announcing HomeChoices! Announcing HomeChoices!
Wed, Nov 11 2009

Why the change? It’s simple – we need a name that is easier for people to say and
remember! We also need a name which clearly identifies our residential and respite services.
We consulted widely in our communities, and chose the name HomeChoices because it
shows that we want people to be as independent as they can be, and to be able to choose
where and how they live.

HomeChoices current services will not change. We will continue to offer our residential and
respite services, including Shared Supported Accommodation in group homes and individual
units, and facility-based respite. We will continue to implement innovative projects such as
Direct Life, Living Life My Way, and the SustainAbility Project. We also have some exciting
new projects underway, including the development of four new houses. These houses are for
people under the age of 50 who are currently living in aged care facilities, or may need to,
because of no viable alternative. These houses will be built in Moe, Whittlesea, Bairnsdale
and Wodonga and we hope that people will be able to move in by the end of 2010.

Our focus on person-centred philosophy continues: we say to people we support: “Choose
how you live”. We will support them to do this by developing independent living skills and
supporting people to transition to independent accommodation if that is their choice.
As an activity of the EW Tipping Foundation network, we continue to provide reliable,
respectful, relationship-focused services in the community.

Of course, EW Tipping Foundation has a proud history of providing residential services over
the past 40 years, and this name is much-loved by many people who have been associated
with us during this time. EW Tipping Foundation continues to provide leadership, strategic
direction and infrastructure support for HomeChoices, as it does for our other network
partners, Vista Community Support and i-GAIN.

Our commitment to people we support, families and the community has not changed.
Together, we will continue to work towards our vision of: independence, choice and
community for all.

Our new website is under construction. Information about our services can still be found at
www.tipping.org.au until the new site is complete.
