Supporter Newsletter

We would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who contributed so generously to our Winter Appeal.

At a frail 81 years old, Will is the sole carer for his daughter Pamela. Pamela, 45, has Down syndrome and serious heart problems. Because of her high support needs, Pamela had not left the house in 2 years.

In May, Pamela was finally able to experience what we all take for granted– a day out shopping. She is now able to go on outings with the support of the EW Tipping Foundation. For Pamela, the support she receives is her life-line to the community. The generosity of our supporters has helped make Pamela’s dream a reality .

EW Tipping Foundation makes a difference for people like Will and Pamela everyday, helping them to live their lives and stay connected with their community.

Thank you to all our supporters — your generosity in giving to our Winter Appeal helps us to keep providing this support to the many people who
need it.

From the CEO

Dear Supporter

There can be no doubt that we are all working together to achieve our vision of independence, choice and community for all!

The stories I am sharing with you today are a wonderful snapshot of the many different ways EW Tipping Foundation makes a difference in the lives of so many people. And each one is such a good news story.

Not only because we have helped people to achieve their goals, but because it’s the contribution of our supporters—be they individual donors, corprates or philanthropic trusts— which has made this possible.

Never doubt that your support makes an enormous difference— to EW Tipping Foundation and to the people we support. On their behalf, I thank you so much for your contribution.

Keeping fit and having fun is all part of a healthy lifestyle, so what could be better than to keep fit and have fun while raising money for the EW Tipping Foundation?

The 2009 Run Melbourne Event was held in June. Participants were able to create their own website for the event to encourage friends and family to sponsor their efforts and donate to their favourite charity.

Staff members Katie Davies and Gail Siracusa signed up for the event again this year, and were determined to beat their times from last year.

Between them, they raised $1,575 for the EW Tipping Foundation which was a fantastic effort! We’ll let you know how you can be involved in the 2010 event!

Funded by the Victorian government Sustainability Fund, EW Tipping Foundation is implementing an innovative project to introduce household sustainability practices in shared supported accommodation.

People on low incomes are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change such as extreme weather, water shortages and rising costs of food, fuel and utilities.

Our SustainAbility Project is the first of its kind to research levels of consumption of water, energy and waste in group homes; and to develop a program to empower people with disability to adopt sustainable practices.

We have been piloting the program in three of our houses and have already seen some great outcomes. Residents and staff are keen to get involved and undertake simple actions such as using a shower timer for shorter showers, starting up a compost bin, or turning off lights and appliances when they are not needed.

The project was launched at Coopers Road, Traralgon, in June by Matt Viney MP.
