Dad to Dad
Thousands of families in Victoria are affected by disability. Dad to Dad is a peer support program for fathers of people with a disability.
Dad to dad helps fathers:
• To have some time out from the everyday stresses of family life
• To meet with other fathers of people with a disability
• To discuss issues associated with supporting a son/daughter with a disability with other dads in a supportive environment
• To learn about how other disability support services operate in Australia.
• To find out more about Person Centred Thinking (a philosophy of individual support and empowerment currently influencing the delivery of disability support services in Victoria)
Socialise
The program takes place over selected weekends and gives dads some time out to network and socialise over activities.
Training & Workshops
Some participants are also given the chance to learn about how to run peer support groups and become more involved in their local community.
Where
Dad to dad weekends take place in a variety of destinations around Victoria. These include Halls Gap, Queenscliff, Rye and the Dandenong Ranges, as well as venues in metropolitan Melbourne.
