Tipping Chair Candice Charles

Candice Charles

Candice is an experienced board member and executive in the health and community sectors. She has special interests in health policy and economics, and broad expertise in governance, business strategy and planning, financial and risk management. Her previous directorships have been with social enterprise and community organisations in the mental health and community health sector.

Candice has held senior leadership roles in banking, government and community organisations. She has established and led successful operational teams and high-profile projects, worked collaboratively with consumer groups and professional bodies, and with government funders to design, implement and evaluate health programs and services.

Candice has Masters qualifications in Public Health and Business Administration, and completed the Company Directors Diploma in 2002. Her early career was spent working as an Occupational Therapist and manager of community-based health services.

Margot Druce

Margot is a lawyer specialising in Family Law with McCracken & McCracken Lawyers, with previous experience in employment law and litigation.

Margot joined the board in 2010. She is Chair of the Vista board, and a member of the People and Governance Committee.

Peter is currently Director of Australian Foundation Investment Company and Chairman of Olympic Park Sports Medical Centre Pty Ltd. He is also Director of the Australian Baseball Federation, National Australia Trustees Limited and the Foundation for Young Australians.

Peter was formerly Managing Director of Equity Trustees Limited and a Director of the Trustee Corporations Association of Australia.

Peter joined our board in 2010.

Corinna Dieters,

Corinna has extensive experience in the financial planning sector, holding various management positions focusing on business operations. She is currently a consultant to financial planning organisations in the areas of strategy, governance and business best practice.

Corinna is a past Chair of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and Financial Planning Standards Board.

Corinna joined our board in 2008.

Geoff Donovan

Passionate about creating a fairer and more inclusive society, Geoff Donovan joined the board of The Tipping Foundation in 2008 and played a strong leadership role as Chair of The Tipping Foundation from 2010 – 2016. Geoff is eager to see the benefits of a fully implemented National Disability Insurance Scheme for both our clients and the larger Australian community.

Geoff is the Director at Purpose Law and has more than thirty-five years as a commercial litigator. His areas of expertise include insurance, transport and electricity law issues including compliance, governance, recovery portfolios and mediation.

Geoff is also a seasoned public speaker and regularly presents on legal, commercial and not-for-profit matters.

John joined the board in 2008 and has qualifications in accounting, company directorship and company secretarial. He has served on a number of industry consultative bodies including APRA’s Corporate Superannuation Committee (Vic) and the FCAI Logistics Committee.

John has worked for Toyota Australia for 20 years and is currently Manager Company Fleet. His major capabilities are in the areas of new business development, continuous improvement, export, logistics and supply chain.

John was one of the inaugural presenters on 3RPH – radio for the print handicapped, a committee member for the Toyota “Community Spirit Gallery”.

Andrew has a unique and interesting healthcare perspective, having during his career held senior strategic and operational management roles in private hospitals, rehabilitation and independent living, pathology and medical centres.

Andrew is presently the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Health Service Alliance (AHSA), an organisation that works with Private Health Insurers and on their behalf negotiates agreements with private hospitals, doctors and other health providers.

Andrew has supplemented his healthcare experience with ongoing studies including qualifications from Harvard Business School (Advanced Management Program) and a Masters of Business Administration to complement his initial Honours degree in Science.

Board member Chris Edwards

Chris is an experienced Human Services Senior Manager with expertise in improving organisation performance in service delivery. He uses his strong analytical skills and his experience in program evaluation, program design, business planning and change management to assist organisations in implementing services that are highly productive and customer centred.

Chris is currently the Manager Inclusion and Acting Manager Volunteering at Vision Australia.

The Honourable Linda Dessau, AM, Governor of Victoria

Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AM was sworn in as Victoria’s 29th Governor on 1 July 2015, and is the first female in the role. We are delighted that Governor Dessau is continuing in the tradition of her predecessor and is the Patron of The Tipping Foundation.

Throughout her impressive legal career The Honourable Linda Dessau has introduced change to the country in her work advocating for projects which have tackled family violence and child abuse. She believes a sense of belonging in your community and respect from others and for yourself are fundamental elements to resilience.
