Our supporters

Thank you to the following generous donors and philanthropic trusts who have made an invaluable contribution to the work of The Tipping Foundation in 2017-18:

The Collier Foundation and the Jack Brockhoff Foundation

These two Foundations have been steadfastly supportive of projects with people with disability over many years. They are currently funding our “Introducing Person Centred Active Support (PCAS) to in-home care – pilot project”. This practice-research project will improve the quality of direct support for people with intellectual disabilities who receive support in their own homes

The project is being implemented in partnership with La Trobe University’s Living with Disability Research Centre. This project builds upon the successful and ongoing longitudinal trial of PCAS in supported accommodation also led by La Trobe. The Collier Foundation also supported this foundational project in 2013.

The Flora & Frank Leith Charitable Trust and donors to our Christmas Appeal 2017

The Frank and Flora Leith Trust and generous donors to our Christmas Appeal have funded the purchase of specialist equipment for our short stay (respite) house for children and teenagers with autism.

The equipment is critical because it increases our capacity to provide places young people with severe autism and a range of support needs. In particular we will be able respond more effectively and comprehensively to the needs of:

  • children and teenagers who have been suddenly relinquished and require long stays, sometimes longer than a year, because appropriate supported housing places cannot be found;
  • children and teenagers who were at the point of relinquishment and who have required regular weekly stays of two to three days.
  • clients among these, who have not been accepted by day programs and require special long day activity schedules.

The Petherd Tarax Charitable Fund, the family of Barbara and Mathew Bachelor, and donors to our Winter Appeals in 2015 and 2016

Your donations made possible the construction of a semi-independent unit adjacent to our shared supported accommodation at Ross Creek, Ballarat. The unit was completed in October 2017 and is now home to a young person with complex support needs.

RACV Community Foundation

Special thanks to the RACV who have supported our work for a second year running. After enabling excursions for people attending our Warragul respite house in 2016-17, the RACV have this year funded an important upgrade of computers used by students at our Morwell Day Program.

Australian Communities Foundation and donors to our Christmas Appeal 2016

A wonderful donation from a member of the Australian Communities Foundation along with donations from supporters to our Christmas Appeal 2016 have brought the target amount required for construction of a house for five people with intellectual disability at Balnarring closer. We are working hard with Frankston Peninsula carers and Wendy Brooks and Partners to raise the remaining funds in the hope of commencing construction in 2018.

Can you help? Our online appeal is open at https://www.givenow.com.au/tippingfoundation.

The William Angliss (Victoria) Charitable Fund and donors to our Winter Appeal 2017

The William Angliss (Victoria) Charitable Fund has made annual donations in support of our work since 2005. In 2017 they were joined by generous supporters of our Winter Appeal in providing a fund that is being drawn upon for special equipment needs of residents of our supported accommodation. Thus far the fund has enabled the purchase of specialist dining chairs, bath accessibility aids, and equipment that helps people in wheelchairs to transfer easily to and from buses on outings.

The Herbert Allen Bequest, the Bendigo Bank at Swan Hill, and the Richmond Football Club

Our thanks to Herbert Allen Bequest administered by the Department of Social Security and the Bendigo Bank of Swan Hill for funding a much anticipated excursion to the MCG for teenagers with disability who participate in our Team Ability after-school sports and living skills program at Swan Hill. Thanks also to the Richmond footy club for their special hosting of the group.
