When is it coming?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is being rolled out in Victoria in stages, so you will be able to access the scheme when it becomes available in the area where you live.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is involved in planning for the NDIS transition and will continue to support Victorians with disability until they have access to NDIS funded support.

The NDIS is being phased in throughout Victoria as follows:

2016

July 1st 2016: North East Melbourne
Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Yarra

2017

January 1st 2017: Central Highlands
Ararat, Ballarat, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool, Pyrenees

May 1st 2017: Loddon
Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Greater Bendigo, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, Mount Alexander

October 1st 2017: Ovens Murray
Alpine, Benalla, Indigo, Mansfield, Towong, Wangaratta, Wodonga

October 1st 2017: Inner Gippsland
Bass Coast, Baw Baw, Latrobe, South Gippsland

October 1st 2017: Western district

Even if your area isn’t able to access the NDIS yet, if you are eligible, it’s a good idea to start understanding and thinking about the NDIS early so you can make the most of the opportunity when it’s available to you.
