Upcoming NDIS information sessions (May)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing disability support. Its an enormous undertaking and because of its scale, the NDIS is being introduced gradually into different regions across Victoria between now and 2020. There are currently about 25,000 participants in the scheme, and this is expected to grow to around 105,000 people in Victoria once the rollout has been complete.

we know NDIS just ask usThe Tipping Foundation has been working with NDIS participants in Victoria for the last 4 years. During this time, one thing that we’ve found is that the people who prepare early and prepare well are the ones that do best.

By “do best”, we mean that they end up with funding that is aligned to what they want to achieve in their lives and that is as good as, or better than, the funding they are currently receiving.

“Preparation is the absolute key to a successful transition to NDIS”

We know that to move from what you might have now in the way of funding to what you may have under NDIS can be quite complicated. Not only that, if you don’t currently have funding to support yourself or your family member with a disability, you may be eligible, but this can be a lot of information to go through, and that can be overwhelming.

Christine Scott from VALID presenting at NDIS Information Session in WarragulSo to assist families in preparing for the transition to the NDIS, we regularly host information sessions where we help to demystify and (where possible) simplify what the NDIS is all about. The main part of each session is delivered by Christine Scott from independent advocacy group VALID. She provides very practical examples of what you need to do to prepare.

You’ll hear about:

  • what NDIS means for your area
  • eligibility – what is funded and what isn’t
  • latest updates on the process
  • tips for preparing for the NDIS rollout in your area.

Refreshments will be served.
