Tash is a beautiful artist. And one that supports her local community.
Tash donated one of her recent artworks, pictured, of a caravan that she had painted to The ArtGusto Give Where you Live‘Auction at the Mill’ in Geelong. There were many people bidding on the work and eventually, her painting was snapped up for $500!
This money will be put to great use along with the other donated works and will go towards projects that support people, based in Geelong, with accessing employment, education and well-being initiatives.
Tash is going from strength to strength with her artwork. If you went back about 2 years ago you would have read a very different story.
As a teenager, Tash lived in a children’s respite facility. Not the best place to call home but perhaps better than no home at all. When she turned 18 she was no longer considered a child and had to leave the respite facility. There were very few options available for her. Her mother lived interstate. Her father was involved but she needed her own place to call home.
Prior to the National Disability Insurance Scheme Tash would have been destined to live in shared supported accommodation (a group home). For someone that can experience significant difficulties relating to others this was unlikely to be the best arrangement for Tash. As it is now two years on those that know and work with Tash can see the positive personal development and growth that Tash has achieved living independently.
Independent living suits this talented young artist. Tash has a team of workers who know her well, her likes and dislikes. She has the opportunity to regularly connect with her Dad and now she is actively pursuing her talents in the arts to the point that she is now giving back to her local community.
Watch out for more beautiful work by this talented artist!
